End of Technical Guidance for vSphere 6.5 and 6.7

These two versions of vSphere have served us well; but on November 15, 2023, all technical support for vSphere 6.5 and 6.7 will end as the products leave Technical Guidance.    If you are still running these versions please upgrade now.  If you have questions about the planning or upgrade process let us know!

Notes from the Field

We are currently looking for customers interested in joining an Enterprise Learning Subscription.  The ELS is a 365-day subscription that provides all you-can-consume training in an on-demand/on-line format.  While at least 5 individuals are required to start a subscription – this can come from any mix of OARnet customers.  Each student chooses their own courses and learns at their own pace.  There are currently a few customers interested. Reach out to myself or Carahsoft to learn more, get current pricing, or be added to the list.

• If you are looking for a download of a product that has reached End of Life (EOL), these have moved to a new location in Customer Connect.
• The VMware Learning System is getting a refresh to ensure it has the updated capabilities required for future learning
• As more customers adopt services in multiple clouds, it is becoming a bit difficult to remember what services are called across those clouds.  Check out this Cloud Equivalent Services Cheat Sheet to keep them straight!

• Many customers have storage arrays that support VAAI (vSphere APIs for Array Integration).  Do you know all that this can do for you or how it works?    Check out this VAAI Introduction to learn more.
• After introducing the VI/JSON wire protocol, a follow up article provides some sample code on using this protocol to connect to vCenter and perform some basic tasks.
• vSphere 8 includes the Skyline Health Diagnostics Tool with vCenter. This tool can take diagnostic bundles and look for known issues in those files.  It takes only moments but can help you identify and solve problems quickly!   It can be updated dynamically to grow and evolve.  Version 4 was released recently and now includes capabilities to analyze Horizon environments.
